THEY said that the wind would come today. It didn’t, but that’s alright. I have my grief and your ghost to keep me company. Who needs the wind?

FOR my part I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream.

DRAW a map of
the places that exist
and then draw
another map of
those places that
do not exist
which map do you
think has better

HE glares back at me
with an ugly, surly face
this old pond frog
Kobayashi Issa, 1763-1827
IT rained for exactly
27 seconds
I know because
I counted the seconds aloud
crazy world huh

Nothing is impossible. The word itself says ''I'm possible."
Audrey Hepburn
DEAD of night and the soul
beats its wings against the bars
of the cage
the soul aches to go free
wings wide, pumping hard
in cold night air
the keeper shows a slice
bit of pity and leaves
the gate ajar
by sunrise the soul is gone
a breeze blows through
the cellblock

When I was a child, my mother said to me, 'If you become a soldier, you'll be a general. If you become a monk, you'll end up as the Pope.' Instead, I became a painter and wound up as Picasso.

Don't you dare hit me in the head, you know I'm not normal!
Curly Howard
AS a child
in my mom’s mobile home
I was a TV dinner
sometimes I was fish sticks
and mashed potatoes or a
fried lunch meat sandwich
as a young out on my own
in the world I was pizza
and hamburgers
I was cold beer or eggs
in a greasy diner
so I married a woman
who was steamed vegetables
and lean chicken
I changed
and we raised a family
that was steamed veggies
like us
I aged as we who survive must
time is change
and as I enter the home stretch
of life I am brown rice
and bean paste
I am tofu and vitamins for seniors

If you are reading these words, you are alive. That, in itself, is worthy of great thanks.
