a breeze against the white curtains

by Jing Jing Tsong
until the sun returns againÂ
do you see those stars? they're diamonds, the light of night.Â
and the moon? why that's the smiling faceÂ
of god herself, a glorious sight. so snuggle down, dear one,Â
my little granddaughter. this world is the placeÂ
where we come to make our souls right,Â
and that takes work and kindness - and rest,Â
so just you sleep tight. my littlest angel, goodnight.Â
- for khaleesi luna buckner, granddaughter -
_______
marking timeÂ
it was a dream about a life that I will never haveÂ
and courage that I do not possessÂ
waking upÂ
there was bright moonlight shining inÂ
through the open windowÂ
a breeze against the white curtainsÂ
and still a lot of night yet to beÂ
