It’s all more than a bit confusing.

The less people have to say to me
The happier I am
I don’t feel antisocial
But
Solitude is an angel sent to bless me
And doors exist for me to close
I have come to believe
That the night is black for my seclusion
And I hide
Within dark, loose fitting clothing
So that I may merge with shadows
Please
Don’t ruin my efforts with a reply

Permanent good can never be the outcome of untruth and violence.

Willows at Sunset, 1888, Vincent van Gogh
Here, the river sits in its bed
Wet and cold and naked
The sky is also naked
Like someone who doesn’t care if you look or not
Although sometimes it hides behind the clouds like a shy child
And the earth is raw and naked
Pushing plants through
“Friend, the only ones here who are clothed are you and I”
A man said that to me as we pushed our way through
The fragrant undergrowth.

The weird thing is that the only way one really gets any of the most important benefits of meditation practice is by giving up on the notion that there are any benefits to meditation practice.

Yes
It’s all more than a bit confusing
This life
And the passing of time fails
To make anything more clear
Just go with it
Eventually all will fade to gray
That happens to us all
I was asked
If I saved all of these poems
And I do, but with little care
And with no system at all
What is the point
Of people remembering my poems
When they will forget my life
James Lee Jobe
We often become our kindest, most ethical selves only by seeing what it feels like to be a selfish jackass first.
