smoke in the distance
the creatures that we become
be carefulÂ
in just a moment these woods will burst into flameÂ
the creatures that we have been until now will just cease to beÂ
and I do not know what we will becomeÂ
and even if I did know  I might not tell youÂ
whatever we become  the woods will be goneÂ
and we will need to go into the town to liveÂ
people there love money and possessionsÂ
and little elseÂ
they spend their days folding dollar bills into little boatsÂ
and setting them adrift in the riverÂ
wealth flies through the air like a powerful godÂ
bankers are the priestsÂ
poverty is shunned and the poor are sent awayÂ
and those who remain do not careÂ
the houses are all lit up garishly  it is christmasÂ
in the distance there is smoke from the burning treesÂ

"There’s something about silence—it’s like being in the eye of a hurricane. When we can be still, when we’re not trying to figure it out, there’s a knowing and an intuition that we can connect with."
George Mumford
morning  Â
a cool summer breezeÂ
hot black coffee and cold sliced tomatoesÂ
cuban music playing softly in the backgroundÂ
I am conscious of what a joy it is to be aliveÂ
I don’t believe in any godsÂ
and yet I want to thank someoneÂ
thank you

Since you alone are responsible for your thoughts, only you can change them.
Paramahansa Yogananda
Damn all naysayers and speak the truth.
You need not hide any longer.
Roll the stone away and exit the tomb --
Just like Jesus. Remove that mask
And toss it over your shoulder as you go.
Now you may use the name
That you have chosen for yourself.
Now you may live
How your heart tells you to live.
Damn all naysayers and speak the truth.
Be bold in thought and deed,
And trust your instincts, always,
Even when your instincts might be wrong.
-- Especially when your instincts might be wrong.
Failure is beautiful, failure is freedom.
Hide no longer. Walk into the light.
Damn them all, you're free.
