the light that shines on your body

Xiaoyang Galas
We are fascinated by the words,Â
but where we meet is in the silence behind them.
Ram Dass

This is where it all endsÂ
the road just doesn't go any fartherÂ
if you want to keep goingÂ
you must leave this wastrel planetÂ
and travel through spaceÂ
to the moon and the other planetsÂ
stay here or go onÂ
neither is the best choiceÂ
and neither is the worstÂ
i have been standing here thinking about itÂ
for an entire lifetimeÂ
-----
Breath on breathÂ
sweat on flesh Â
hands in caress Â
your eyes in full moanÂ
a time of shiver Â
a time of shudder Â
the light that shines on your bodyÂ
to measure this moment Â
lips Â
tongue Â
sweet death of ecstatic bliss Â
the love you own in the river of being human Â
this blessing Â
this gift Â
the music of skin on skin Â
your fingertips Â
a night that is your own   Â
your magic Â
one slow and perfect second at a timeÂ
-----
You can say god or allah or jehovahÂ
krishnaÂ
white buffalo womanÂ
i don't careÂ
you can say that you answer onlyÂ
to your own conscienceÂ
and that's fine tooÂ
you can pray for guidanceÂ
or just trust your own heartÂ
i am still your brotherÂ
we are both flesh and plasmaÂ
and something elseÂ
something inside that can be kindÂ
draw me a map to where you areÂ
and I will draw you a map to meÂ
and then let us move toward each otherÂ
each on our own journeyÂ
a journey that was envisioned by the other oneÂ
and wherever we meet i will hold you in my armsÂ
like your brotherÂ

In trading the pleasures of an ordinary life for a meditative life,Â
you're trading candy for gold.
